Exhausts for the Kawasaki J300

Never thought much about making mods to the J300, but I saw that there are exhausts that are made for the J300 specifically. I find that scooters can sound a little sad with their exhaust note, but a new exhaust could change that. It's something that I am considering now, but I wish that I could hear them before I lay down the dough.

MIVV Stronger Exhaust - Can't find a price from the manufacturer, but on eBay it's selling for $359.00.


Here is a link to the dyno chart for this exhaust. It improves things a touch. Definitely a more smooth progression than the stock provides.

Arrow Kawasaki J300 Exhaust - 325,13


No dyno chart here, but Arrow is a great exhaust brand so I bet it improves things.

MIVV Urban Line - 349,00


No dyno details here either, but the company claims it will improve "their look, sound, and performance, in addition to reducing their weight."

Leo Vince 4-ROAD - 247.20


Not much info on this one. Made of welded stainless steel.

Learning about the Kawasai J300 by Studying the Kymco Downtown 300i

The Kawasaki J300 scooter is actually just a rebadged Kymco Downtown 300i. Having looked at most of the reviews and information on the J300, of which there isn't a ton, I thought that it might be a good way to learn about the J300 by studying its twin, the Kymco Downtown 300i.

The Kymco 300i was introduced to the Canadian market in 2010, and to the US market a year later, though it was dropped after two years. It pairs some of Kymco's nicest styling with impressive motor options.

The 300i, as well as the J300, comes with a liquid-cooled, 4stroke single-cylinder engine that has a displacement of 299cc. That will give it ample power to travel on any city street or highway.The engine makes both machines well-rounded and versatile.

Another benefit to the 300cc motor is that it makes the price of both machines a lot less than full size maxi scooters, which have displacements around 500-650cc. For a 300cc motor, the 300i makes an impressive 29 hp. As a comparison, the Hodna Forza only makes 24.5 hp.

The Kymco 300i is not a bin scooter; Kymco put its best foot forward with it. The pricing is therefore based more on quality than affordability. The market for 200-400cc scooters is heating up with Yamaha's 400cc Majesty, Honda's Forza and the Suzuki Burgman 400 being direct competition.

The place where the 300i differs from the J300 is in styling. The 300i still looks edgy, but has a slightly more conservative look when compared to the J300. But by all accounts, the 300i has gotten good reviews and stacks up well to its competition. That can only point to good things for the J300.
